Thanks to my dear friends: Fan Yu, Fanyu Liu
We started with the key light and found that it was that hard to get a similar effect with the emulated photo.
Then we added another strobe to light up the backdrop.
1. The round shape is not big enough to light up the right back part.
iso 100, t 1/125, f 16
2. If we moved our subject closer to the backdrop, the key light would interfere and light up the backdrop.
iso 100, t 1/125, f 13
3. We had to move the back light far from the backdrop to get a big round shape.
The problem was as the light further from the backdrop the shadow edge became less sharp.
iso 100, t 1/125, f 14
iso 100, t 1/125, f 14
Conclusion:
I think the possible explanation may be:
1. the emulated photo went through post production, the shape of shadow is not directly lighted by strobe.
2. They have some equipment that is bigger than our snoot so they can get a bigger round.
I tried to use Photoshop to get a similar one.
Final comparison:
The following are the behind scene photos.
