This is Wenying Zhang's Assignment 3.

✨Get obsessed with light for one day✨

1. The reflection of sunlight created by the glass window of high buildings

 The two photos were taken at 3pm, Sept 25.

extremely strong and contrasty sunlight

In the first photo, the shadow has a sharp edge.

But in the second photo, the shadow has two edges, 

because the shadow is made by both the sun and the building reflection.

This photo was taken at 6pm, Sept 24.

The reflection from the building in front of the subject lit up her face. 

2. The light of different time

There is rim light and glow around the subject.

The sun was nearly under the horizon.

The sunshine went through the orange solution and made orange shadow. 

                 ✨Use window light to make a portrait✨

Fall 2019 Laws of Light PM-Assignment 2

In this assignment, we need to demonstrate the 3 laws of light: Light Travels in Straight Lines + The Angle of Incidence Equals the Angle of Reflection + Inverse Square Law.

The biggest problem we met was the big mirror which would reflect much more light. This resulted in confusing our target reflection. Also the light source made a great difference to the result, and we tried from snoot to lampshade to get a more clear shadow. 

Finally, we got the photo below.

Part 2

Use 3 identical 4x5 grey cards to make four photos of the cards with light source 2 ft, 4 ft, 8 ft, and 16 ft from the middle card. 

The following are the four photos.

Part 3

Use 3 4x5 cards a black card in front, a grey card in the middle and a white card in the back. Use one light source to make all 3 cards appear to be the same value.

We tried a lot of times to make all 3 cards appear to be the same value. 
The following three pictures show the process of our trials.
The last one is the most successful one, although it is not exactly the same.
